Blue laws are laws that regulate public and private conduct, especially laws relating to Sabbath (Sunday) observance. Blue laws originated in Puritanical times as a means to keep folks from committing sin, by, for instance, kissing your wife on Sundays. Since, most blue laws are not enforced, or completely off the books, though Blue Laws still exist is some forms in some of the more religious areas of the country. For instance, some states still prohibit the sell of alcohol on Sundays. |
