The Fair Labor Standards Act governs the amount of wages an employee is entitled to, and the amount of hours the employee can work. The FLSA includes rules in minimum wage, overtime, child labor, and the amount of hours that can be worked. In addition to the FLSA, employers are also governed by specific state wage and hour laws, which generally give more rights than federal laws.
